Brown School News for Feb. 27 - Mar. 3, 2017

Announcements
I am looking for a few adults who would be interested in helping to monitor the drop off and playground areas in the morning and the pick up areas in the afternoon.  If you are able to help, times would be 8:10am - 8:25am and 3:48-3:55pm.  We have staff that cover the areas, but an extra set of eyes is always helpful.  If interested, please email me at chubble@sjschools.org

Spring Conferences and Information about 2nd Trimester Report Cards
The end of second trimester is February 24th.  Along with that, our spring parent-teacher conferences begin.   In the fall, teachers work to meet with 100% of their students' families.  In the spring conferences are scheduled by the classroom teacher with parents on an ‘as needed’ basis. The goal is to schedule conferences with parents of children needing additional academic, social, or emotional support and those with ongoing improvement plans.  We also know that our teachers communicate between home and school on a regular basis all year long.  If you have questions about your child’s progress at any time, please contact the classroom teacher. 
  • Report cards have been changed in the area of math to be reflective of our work to clarify what we want students to know and be able to do.  (we refer to these as essential standards)
  • In some cases, report card standards from first trimester remain and you will see cumulative progress for second trimester
  • In many cases, the standards for second trimester are new, replacing standards from first trimester. In this case, you will not see any cumulative progress.

Kindergarten Round-Up
