Year End Events
This time of year it seems like we have so many things to be thankful for and to celebrate. While we try to keep disruptions to learning at a minimum, you will notice we have several special events planned over the next couple weeks. From field trips to our picnic and fifth grade celebrations, it can be a little difficult to keep track of. We have tried to capture as many of those events as possible for you above, however, there are a few special ones that need a bit of explanation. They are outlined here so everyone's "in the know".
Summer Book Bonanza - May 23rd: All SJPS elementary students will receive new books to read over the summer. And, several local libraries will be there, too! You and your child can even sign up for a library card! Just be sure to bring a copy of a recent bill as proof of your address.
School Picnic - June 6th: This annual school tradition is indeed a special event for our students! It's all the volunteers who make this picnic possible. Please know that if you are planning to attend that day it is expected that you're here to help out with the games and activities.
Fifth Grade Breakfast - June 8th - Last Day of School: This event is for the students only. Some parents will be in attendance as volunteers. The event coordinators have the list of volunteers for the day and are working to contact parents.
Awards Assembly - June 8th - Last Day of School: Parents are invited to the awards assembly on the last day of school. We will recognize the accomplishments and contributions of our students and bid farewell to our fifth graders, too.
Fifth Grade Class Fundraising
Fifth graders will continue to sell Dilly Bars to raise money for the their gift to the school. Please send in $1.25 with your child on May 22, 24, 30 and/or June 1st to purchase this sweet treat!
Volunteers are also collecting cans to raise money. They will be collecting cans on THURSDAY mornings (5/24, 5/31) during drop off. Parents can bring the cans and students will help unload/collect. If your child rides the bus to school, you could also send in the can return slip if you prefer.
Door Prizes Needed
We’re hoping to give away door prizes at our Book Bonanza. If you or someone you know would like to make a donation, please contact the school office. No gift is too big or small. Thanks for considering it!
