News for the Week of January 17, 2022

Tomorrow we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. When school resumes on Tuesday, our students will focus on the character strength perseverance. This is defined as "persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success".  The work of Dr. King is a shining example of the importance of perseverance.

We encourage you to discuss this and all of our  character strengths at home. The P2  family site offers a wealth of resources and is linked here. The password is "P2".

5th Grade Parents

Dear 5th grade parents and guardians,

Thank you so much to everyone who has signed up to help with the 5th Grade Farewell activities so far! There are still a few more spaces that need to be filled.

Each year the 5th grade class gives a gift to the school as their legacy for future Brown Students to enjoy. In order to purchase this gift, the class has fundraisers to raise the necessary funds. We still need more volunteers to help with the fund raisers (lead by Brooke Roberts), and we also need a chairperson and committee for the Class Gift. Responsibilities for the Class Gift committee include: Survey the classes for ideas for the gift. Present the gift ideas to Mrs. Bawks for approval and then return to classes to narrow down the approved ideas and for a vote to choose the gift. Coordinate with the Fundraiser chairperson. Oversee the purchase and coordinate installation of the gift.

Please CLICK HERE to sign up.

For any questions or concerns, please contact any of the committee leaders.

Bucks for Brown is Looking Ahead

We are looking for a few more people to round out our Bucks for Brown committee.  These roles would be in planning next year’s event and helping secure business sponsors for next year.

We also are looking for a couple of people who would be interested in heading up the spring picnic together.  This year would be spent working with the current chair, and next year the new leads would take over.

If you are interested in either committee, please contact Sheri Baker or Kristen Bawks.

Future Events

Most of our PTO events for the school year are already scheduled and can be

viewed here.  If you would like to help with any of these events, you can indicate interest through our form here.

End of the Day Dismissal Safety

We need your help to keep our students and staff safe at the end of the school day. If you are picking your child up at the 4th/5th grade area (Yukon Dr.), please be sure you are attending to the following important reminders.

*There is NO parking in the bus or media center lots.

* DO NOT ask your child to walk to your parked car in a lot.

* If you prefer to park, please plan to use the office lot (off of Brown School Rd). There you can park and walk up the crosswalk to greet your child on the sidewalk - even if they are in 4th or 5th grade.

Thank you for your patience and attention to these guidelines. Keeping our students, staff, and families safe is a top priority.
