First Week of School Edition 2022
- Develop a quick “goodbye” ritual. Rituals are reassuring and can be as simple as a special wave through the window or a goodbye kiss. Keep things quick!
- Leave without fanfare. Tell your child you are leaving and that you will return, then go—don’t stall or make it a bigger deal than it is.
- Follow through on promises. For your child to develop the confidence that they can handle separation, it’s important you return at the time you promised.

Principal
Please share your child’s after school plans for the first week of school with us by clicking here and completing a brief form. This will help our staff make sure that your child gets to the right locations safely. (This is the same form I included last week.)
If plans change during and/or after the first week of school, please communicate changes with your child’s teacher and the school office. If your child will be riding a bus, please make sure you have completed the Transportation Department Form found on the district website. Bus route information and timings can be found here. (Please note bus names have changed!)
If you have additional transportation needs, please contact Sara Petrosius, SJPS Transportation Director, at spetrosius@sjschools.org or 269-926-3900.
