October is Fire Prevention & Safety Month
This is a good time of year to review your at-home emergency procedures, including planned escape routes and meeting places. Please take a few minutes to check your smoke alarm batteries, too. Families needing smoke alarms are encouraged to contact the fire department. A little planning and preparation can make all the difference in saving your family from disaster.
Halloween Parties and Costumes
Our Halloween parties are scheduled for Tuesday, 10/31, from 2:15-3:15 p.m., followed by a parade, unless your child's class has a special at that time. All adults must sign in at the office. Parents must have a background check completed and returned in order to volunteer at the party.

Students may bring costumes to change into at last recess. Costumes are not to be worn all day long as we have important learning to do prior to our end-of-the-day parties. Please be sure your child's costume is appropriate for school and make every effort to send a costume that could be worn over your child's regular clothing. This will help us start our parties on time. No weapons are allowed.
If your child walks or is a car rider, he/she will be dismissed from school in costume. Bus riders will need to take their costumes off and stow them in their backpacks.
Thank you!
We would like to thank all of the volunteers who have encouraged our students to walk over 2,000 miles for our school so far! We are approaching our final week and would love to see you come out and join us.
The Brown School staff would also like to thank all of the parent volunteers who so kindly provided meals and treats for us throughout last week's conferences. We are so grateful for your time and thoughtfulness!
Thank you all for helping to ensure personal items like toys, balls, and electronics stay safe at home. We appreciate your partnership.
Attendance Notifications
This week attendance letters will be sent to any child who has missed school or been tardy 10% of our days or more (3 days). These letters are a reminder that your child's attendance is important. If your child misses school due to an illness for which he/she is seen by a doctor, please ask the doctor for a note to excuse the absence for the day. This will ensure the time away due to illness does not count against your child. Thank you!
Please save your Roger's Receipts
If you shop at Rogers Foodland, simply send in your register receipts to the school (dated after 9/1/17) -- there is a basket in the office. We earn points for all receipts submitted. These points can be used to buy playground equipment for our school.
Coat Collection
The Women's Service League is collecting gently used and new coats in the school foyer. Donated items will be distributed throughout the areas to help those in need stay warm this winter.
