Brown School News for Feb. 6 - 10, 2017

Announcements
Elementary Gym & Swim - Friday, Feb. 10 from 6:00-8:00pm

This is a fun family night where students from all 3 elementary buildings can go to the high school between 6:00 and 8:00pm to use the field house and the swimming pool.  This is not a “drop off” activity, but instead a time that the whole family can come and play/swim together and parents can meet and talk to each other as well. Basketballs, frisbees, soccer balls and lifeguards will all be present.

Pennies for Patients Collection Begins

Reward School Information
You may have caught the recent accolades being showered on St. Joseph Public Schools!  We are very fortunate to have 4 of our 5 schools recognized by the state as Reward Schools.  Unfortunately, Brown was the one out of 5 that was not recognized, but that doesn't mean our achievement is low. Reward Schools are those that have achieved one or more of the following distinctions:
1) top 5% of schools on the Overall School Rankings
2) top 5% of schools making the greatest gains in achievement (improvement metric)
3) "Beating the Odds" by outperforming the school's predicted ranking and/or similar schools.
Clarke School received a ranking of 96th percentile and Lincoln School received a ranking of 95th percentile.  These marking placed them in the top 5%.  Brown School received a ranking of 93rd percentile.  Is that good?  You bet!  Our goal is to increase our overall performance on the M-Step this spring and bump up those 2 percentile points to also be recognized in the top 5%.
Upton was also 93rd percentile and our high school was 87th percentile.  They achieved reward status by Outperforming the Thirty Most Demographically Similar Schools.  We are so proud as a district to report so much success!

Drop Off and Pick Up
Things are looking a little sloppy! Please refer to the chart, but most of all, use courtesy and common sense.
