School Safety and Security Updates
In response to your feedback on recent surveys, buzzer systems have been installed at the main entrance of all of our schools. We appreciate your patience as it may not be possible to allow immediate access to the building.
In addition to the new buzzer systems, an additional School Social Worker was hired at the elementary level to allow for more social emotional learning opportunities. Brianne Van Hekken is now working with Brown School students four out of the six days in our cycle. The other two days are spent at Lincoln School.
Safety Drills
In accordance with the law, students participate in five fire drills, two tornado drills, and three lockdown drills throughout the school year. Lockdown drills are focused on internal and external threats, one being during a transition time where students may or may not be in the classroom. Specific times and safety plans are not shared with the public for obvious safety reasons.
Celebrating Birthdays
When planning a birthday celebration for your child, please be mindful of other students' allergies and intolerances. Always contact the classroom teacher as to the best time to bring in a treat.
With our continual focus on building classroom libraries to support literacy, you might consider donating a book to the class and joining them as a guest reader as opposed to a treat.
