Opportunities to Serve at Upton
Upton PTO will have several open board positions come May/June. Our volunteers will be graduating out of middle school, and we’re beginning our search for their replacements.

- Young Authors - our current chair will no longer have a student at Brown next year. We are looking for someone interested in art/writing to help put our annual Young Authors book together. You will walk alongside our current chair this year to learn the ropes for next year.

Upcoming Volunteer Needs

- Media Center: Help in the Media Center is a continuing need. If you are interested in assisting with book returns, check-out, re-shelving books and class activity centers, please fill out a volunteer form and we will contact you. You choose which shifts (45 minutes per shift) you would like to sign up for - the teachers for each shift are listed so you can coordinate with your student’s time in the Media Center. The signup has been updated with 3rd - 5th grade spots through Spring Break. Please note: the dates are subject to change. https://signup.com/go/gAFMxHJ
- Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Fair will be in the Media Center on March 23 - 27th. A volunteer signup will be made available soon.
- Lego Night: Lego night is coming up quickly (Feb 27th)! There are still many open spots to help out with Lego Night. You must have a background check completed with the school - if you are unsure of your status please contact the office.

We are gearing up for another exciting Brown School student performance event! Special thanks goes out to Chelsey Fonua and Cheryl Thompson for co-chairing this event again this year. Here are some important dates to note for our performers:

Opportunities at Sports 44
Do you have sports equipment that you no longer need? If so, please consider donating it to Sports 44 (2605 S. Cleveland Ave.). Let them know that you would like Brown PTO to receive a percentage of the sale. This will help to sustain the purchase of additional playground equipment for our students. In addition, Sports 44 has a Mike Wagner Memorial account set up for any student who needs financial assistance with sporting equipment or clothing. This is intended to cover the cost of whatever is needed. Mr. Wagner was a huge sports fan and this would make him happy. Please ask for Chris, the owner, and he will make sure you are taken care of. Special thanks go out to the many people who have donated items to the store in care of the memorial.
