Announcements
Guess what time it is?! It’s time to raise money for our school! 🎉🎉
Bucks for Brown is a two-week fundraiser, ending with a Fun Run on October 8th. Fundraising packets will be coming home with your child this Friday with all of the details, so keep an eye out!
This is Brown School’s ONLY large fundraiser. We do this instead of traditional catalog fundraisers which allows parents and our local business community to donate directly to the Brown School PTO. This money provides additional opportunities for our students and teachers such as- additional books for our Media Center, field trips, popcorn days, spelling bee, Science Olympiad, playground activities, teacher grants, LEGO and science nights and so much more! The goal is to raise enough funds to support the PTO annual budget.
This year we have added some fun incentives:
* For each class with 100% donation participation- Students will have all names in class put into a drawing for a prize. (One prize per classroom)
* Principal’s Challenge-- Your proud principals will do the following when our school hits these fundraising goals:
$5,000 - They will wear funny hats all day
$10,000 - They will dress up as local celebrities
$15,000 - They will play Beanboozled live on the news
$20,000 - They will work on the roof for a day and throw candy to their students

Event Coordinators
We are looking for coordinators for a few of our PTO events. If you are interested in any of the positions below, please fill out a volunteer form! The PTO board will provide you with information to get started coordinating these events.
Variety Show Co-Chair - coordinate try-outs, rehearsals, and two performances. This would be best with co-coordinators. We have information and contacts from previous years to get a new coordinator started.

Lory’s Place Peer Grief Support Group
We are so fortunate to have a resource like Lory’s Place here in our community! Our Brown School community is fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with Lory’s Place in order to provide a peer grief support group within the school setting.
Lory’s Place Group is a peer grief support group that is offered to our Brown School students who have experienced the loss of a significant person or people in their lives. This group is co-facilitated by Mrs. Van Hekken, our school social worker, and a staff member from Lory’s Place. This group will meet once per month beginning in October and through the month of May for not any longer than one hour on Wednesdays. Should you and your child feel that this would be beneficial, please fill out this form in order to provide your permission and further information needed. Please read this letter should you like a little more information. Multi-Tiered System of Support
We are proud to provide a multi-tiered system of support for all of our learners. In addition to teaching the general curriculum (tier I), we also prioritize time every day related to intervention and enrichment opportunities, both academic and social-emotional. As a member of our school community, your child may work with a member of our Inter-Richment team (Mrs. Stroh, Mrs. J., and/or Mrs. Bolinder), other grade level teachers, and/or Mrs. VanHekken (our school social worker) for tier II or III support. Should you have any questions about this, please reach out to Kristen Bawks or your child's classroom teacher.
News From the Lunchroom
We would like to remind everyone that breakfast and lunch are FREE again this year to every St Joseph Public School student. Please try to remember to pre-order your student’s lunches when they are going to participate in lunch. This helps speed up the morning lunch count process. You will be allowed to order the Friday before the next week using www.sendmoneytoschool.com.
Due to the supply chain issues we are having with our vendors and food outages we will be providing a one week menu on our website and Principal blogs. Here is this week's lunch menu:

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our fall Parent - Teacher conferences are being scheduled for next week and will continue through mid-November. Your time may or may not be scheduled on one of the 1/2 days. We schedule appointments flexibly to honor our family's work & personal commitments.
Student Illness GuidanceBecause we are in the "high" transmission level in the county at this time, students exhibiting symptoms which are strong indicators of COVID-19 (temperature over 100.4 or feeling feverish/chills, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose/congestion, muscle or body aches, headaches, fatigue, vomiting and/or diarrhea, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, new loss of taste or smell) must stay home for 10 days, unless a negative COVID-19 test result or a doctor’s note stating the student may return to school is provided to school authorities.
